As a grassroots campaign, I’m committed to running a race that reflects my community and my values. Especially at a time when my community is struggling for economic opportunity, I rely on the generosity of small donors who pitch in to fund our efforts. I’m grateful to say that the financial support from my community has been inspiring – our average contribution is $59.80. Despite having an opponent funded by supporters and corporate interest groups with deep pockets, I know this is the right way to run. Rep. Houston Gaines has taken money from interest groups such as the Southern Police Benevolence Association, Georgia Oilmen’s Association, and the Georgia Power Corporation’s PAC. How can we expect a representative to vote in the interest of our community when their success is predicated on the vast financial support of corporate and special interest PACs?

I'm so thrilled at the opportunity to complete this survey for the Our Democracy 2020 project and share my thoughts on voter and candidate suppression in Georgia. I'm energized by the support of my community and by other likeminded candidates fighting for transformative change. In my "Priorities for Progress", I highlight areas of Justice, Equity, and Education that I believe can make our communities stronger.
