If elected, I will prioritize, endorse, and support...

Independent Redistricting

The Nebraska unicameral currently carries out the process of adjusting voting maps after every census. This has led to ugly partisan fights among legislators and decreases the public trust in the fairness of voting districts.

An independent body would exclude public and political officeholders as well as lobbyists and candidates.

Limit Political Contributions

Nebraska is one of 11 states that place no limits on personal contributions, and one of only five that allow for unlimited contributions from corporations.

Expand Vote By Mail

Currently, Nebraska law requires approval from the Secretary of State for any county seeking to use Vote by Mail county-wide. Unfortunately, only counties with fewer than 10,000 inhabitants may apply.

This excludes Buffalo, Dawson, Hall, Lancaster, Douglas, and Sarpy counties, among others, from participating.

Require Advertising disclosure

While many electioneering communications already require disclosure of what was spent and who financed the advertisement, a loophole allows some to circumvent reporting by not stating whether they support or oppose the named candidate.

The result is advertisements that attack candidates but don’t say whether to vote for or against them. The effect is largely the same as a traditional electioneering communication, but it excludes the public disclosure component
