Response

In the 2017 and 2018 legislative sessions I introduced a bill (HB17-1328, HB18-1318) that would require candidates for President and Vice President to file their federal income tax returns with Colorado’s Secretary of State as a criteria for having their names printed on the General Election ballot. Both bills passed the State House but were defeated in the State Senate. California passed a similar law in 2019 which was signed by Gov Newsom but the California Supreme Court ruled it unconstitutional. The ruling has been appealed to the US Supreme Court. We’ll consider next steps after SCOTUS makes a decision.

I plan to introduce a bill in the 2021 legislative session that would require disclosure of donors who contribute $50 or more to a 501c4.

Tell Edie Hooton thank you.
