Response

I believe we need to reset Hawai'i's economy to reflect a more self sufficient locally based foundation. We need to break the dependency on the US Mainland and seek local Home Rule ideas and programs that create a positive influence to our unique island lifestyle.

This means we need to ""live within our means"". Looking at Hawai'i and reasess our real resources, the land and our people. It will not be an easy transition but a necessary one. It has start now. The ramificatons of continuing capitalist consumerism is just unacceptable. An economy dependent on tourism and federal dollars is not sustainable. Transition must begn and fuel an independent minded locally based Hawai'i.
