I believe that to be a good legislator requires a bond of trust between the community and their representatives. It demands responsiveness, inclusion, and the ability to prioritize needs. Walking my district and meeting my neighbors near and far has been a wonderful learning opportunity. Sharing ideas and concerns, really listening to each other, is the only way to create a bridge between government and citizens. Everyone's voice should be heard!
During my working career I have worked in the tourism industry in Waikiki, successfully managed retail operations on Windward and Leeward side, owned my own small business and have been a teacher activist for our state. I bring a unique combination of skills and experiences to the job that will provide a backdrop for discussions with colleagues and constituents. This will permit me to analyze facts and data, as well as, use clear communication for understanding and collaboration with many stakeholders. Running for office is me making a commitment to listen, evaluate issues, represent our common interest, and arrive at decisions that have been fully researched.
